WELCOMING THOUSANDS
OF BLACK & BROWN FAMILIES TO HOMEOWNERSHIP
HOMEOWNERSHIP MAY BE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
Homeownership is about more than just a place to live. In the right situation, it can be about providing a strong financial future for your family and building a nest egg for the next generation.
Philly5000 is a comprehensive campaign designed to reach prospective Black and brown homeowners in the city of Philadelphia, ultimately creating 5,000 new homeowners.
Here you will find information about the homebuying process and up-to-date resources including information about housing counseling, mortgage products, wealth building and legal resources.
“Having a home is having a legacy, especially when you have children. It’s wealth building, which is not taught to us in schools.”
Mary Campbell, Housing Counselor
MAKING THE DREAM OF HOMEOWNERSHIP A REALITY FOR EVERYONE
You may think homeownership is out of your reach, but there are a number of special programs from city and state agencies as well as local banks that offer home purchase loans with competitive interest rates and lower fees. Some people may qualify for down payment and/or closing cost assistance through one of the many available programs.
Am I ready to become a homeowner?
Homeownership brings more freedom and the potential to provide a strong financial foundation for your family. But it also brings new responsibilities.
Are there special programs and deals?
Yes! Contact your neighborhood housing counselor to learn out about them.
What should
I do next?
We recommend talking to a neighborhood housing counselor.
“Home buying is beneficial for our families, and for our future.”
